More about the park:
Vogel State Park, established in 1931, is the second oldest state park in Georgia. Located at 2500 feet above sea level, Vogel sits at the base of Blood Mountain, the highest summit on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, and is surrounded by Chattahoochee National Forest and offering hiking, swimming, fishing, and enjoying family time in a diverse mountain landscape.
In addition to the park itself, there are a number of other nearby locations that offer beautiful scenery and outdoor activities. For example, State Parks Tallulah Gorge and Amicalola Falls are a relatively short drive away and offer a unique outdoor experience.

Also, an interesting town nearby is that of the Alpine Village of Helen, GA. It is said that it has the charm of Bavaria, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
With a population of fewer than 500 residents, it is the state’s third most visited city. People come for the Blue Ridge Mountain setting and the Southeast’s finest Bavarian Village – a glimpse of Germany right here in Georgia! In just over 2 square miles, it packs so much charm – with cobblestone walkways, Alpine food, and drink, and is surrounded by natural beauty, wineries, artisan tours and so much more. This is a great day trip (approx. 35 minutes drive away).
